  • Polonya hariç her ülkenin payının gittikçe azalması
  • Son dönemde sadece 2 üreticinin kalması
The charts illustrate the changes in the amount of coal production in particular EU countries, as well their share in total output, over a period of 3 decades.

Massive drops were recorded in coal production with each passing decade, with the final figure amounting to less than one fourth of the initial one—277.4 million tons in 1990 vs 56.5 tons in 2020. However, proportionally speaking, Poland produced increasingly more of the coal in the EU, reaching 96% by 2020, up from 53% 3 decades earlier. Despite this colossal rise, its total output in 2020 actually declined by more than half than in 1990.

Germany, the only other notable producer, steadily reduced coal production over the years, bringing it to a total halt by 2020. While it was responsible for more than a quarter of all production in 1990, its share evaporated rather quickly just as in other countries. As of 2020, there were only 2 producers left, with Czechia accounting for only 4%. Whereas most countries halted coal production before the 2020s, France ditched it soon after the 2000s, at least a decade earlier.

Overall, coal production in the EU declined substantially over time, with Poland almost achieving a monopoly.
